This is the terrifying moment two lorries nearly had a head-on collision after one swerved onto the wrong side of the road at 5.30 in the morning.
Footage recorded the heart-wrenching scene on a dash cam in the early hours of this morning on the A66 near close to the Long Marton turnoff near Penrith, Cumbria.
Two vehicles, who were driving in opposite directions on a country road, came within inches of smashing into each other and narrowly avoided a crash.

Martyn Reynolds, from Penrith, Cumbria, posted the dash cam footage on Facebook which has been viewed more than 20,000 times.
The video begins with Mr Reynolds following the lorry driving on the left hand side of a country road at a reasonable speed.
The huge truck suddenly swerves onto the other side of the road as headlights of the oncoming lorry become visible.
Luckily, the truck manages to drag itself back to the left hand side of the road.

The back-end of the lorry swings away just in time for the oncoming driver to pass who angrily flashes their lights.
Mr Reynolds posted: ‘My dash cam video from this morning. A66 just after Long Marton turnoff heading towards Kirkby Thore, nearly another statistic.
‘Take care out there.’
He told Mail Online: ‘I’m a confident driver, ex policeman and have previously driven HGVs for a living and was prepared for a potential problem, I’d followed the HGV for about 3 miles, it had crossed the central lines several times before the incident.
‘I was brought up in this area so I’m very aware of the amount of accidents on the A66, there was a very serious accident at this very location a few months ago, I think it was a fatality.
‘Everyone shouts about ‘it’s a dangerous road’ the road isn’t dangerous, drivers are! and the trucks these days are so easy to drive and driver comforts, it makes it too easy for the driver to become tired and nod off.’

Social media users and hit out at the lorry driver calling him a ‘clown’ and urged Martyn to report the clip to police.
On social media, Lyn Broderick said: ‘I hope you reported this to the police.’
Don Stobbs commented: ‘Lapse of concentration or falling asleep. Not good if fully freighted at 44 tonne.’
Rob Price wrote: ‘So none of you have accidentally fallen asleep? It’s no excuse but ffs you don’t need to stick it all over here.’
John Walsh said: ‘Not a bad driver, just a tired one.’

In June, a lorry driver working for DHL Tradeteam overtook a cyclist and almost collided with a car – before driving straight over a roundabout.
The incident, which happened in Colchester, Essex, was filmed by Jeffery Andrews who uploaded the clip to Twitter.
DHL Express responded to Jeffery’s tweet apologising for the incident.
